Requirements for Conductive Yarns for E-Textiles Applications
1 SCOPE
This standard identifies categories and establishes a designation system and qualification/quality conformance requirements and test methods for conductive yarns used in e-textiles. Conductive yarns covered under this standard include conductive fibers and conductive wires used in combination with fiber and yarn systems.
1.1 Purpose
The purpose of this standard is to provide and define key characteristics with associated testing for procuring conductive yarns used in e-textiles.
1.2 Classification
IPC standards recognize that electrical and electronic assemblies are subject to classi.cations by intended end-item use. Three general end-product classes have been established to reflect differences in manufacturability, complexity, functional performance requirements, and veri.cation (inspection/test) frequency. It should be recognized that there may be overlaps of equipment between classes.
